It is quite common to see divorce and relationships break up in developed countries like United States. Almost half of the couples end up with their relationship within a few years of marriage, which has drastically escalated the divorce statistics in recent years. They consider marriage as a disposable relationship and call it off anytime they want to. It seems as if there is no real value of the vows that most people make on their wedding day.
There are a lot of examples of relationships break up in the society that include famous people like film stars, television artists, celebrities and sport stars. One more category that depicts a very high rate of marriage problems consequently leading to the relationships break up is policemen in United States. A gamut of reasons contributes towards their escalating divorce rates that include irregular timings and risky lifestyle. Even if we take up the examples of political leaders and other eminent personalities, the results are same.
A research on divorce rates and relationships break up suggests that more than half of the first marriages face problems consequently leading to divorce. The stats and figures are the highest in United States, followed by other major continents including United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Denmark. Moreover, almost two-thirds of second marriages and three-fourth of every third marriages dissolve quickly.
A surprising and unfortunate thing is that in spite of taking their wedding vows seriously and making efforts to resolve the marriage problems, they head for relationships break up and divorce. The possible reason behind this is the lack of importance of relationships. People prefer to stay in civil unions and live-in relationships, instead of marrying and even choose to have children. Couples want to stay away from the word "commitment", which results in the lack of consistency.
Nowadays, people have also started moving away from their religion and faith. This is another reason that people are moving away from what their wedding vows suggest them. The promises that they make with each other are of no meaning for them. As the families are breaking down quickly, children get a bad example and tend to follow the same as their parents did.
About one-third of children in developed countries are brought up by a single parent in their early childhood, a crucial time when they need both father and mother influences. Besides all these unfortunate stats, good news is that forty percent of the couples who have kids are less likely to move ahead for relationships break up as compared to those having no kids. It is so because a sense of responsibility comes among parents when they have children. But there are exceptions again as there are several couples who divorce after spending about 20-30 years together. Our modern society has become so fast forward that couples no longer consider their wedding as a sacred act and runaway from commitment. So if they cannot stick on their vows, why marry at all? It seems that we may soon return to the primitive age where there is commitment in relationships and promiscuity is found everywhere.
Only the couples who have strong religious beliefs and enough faith are able to carry on their relationship ahead. They try to fulfill their vows and refrain from relationships break up and even face lesser marriage problems. But how many couples are actually of this type? Less than fifty percent and those who are having problems are not willing enough to solve them.
